The Resource Description Community brings together OCUL members who have roles in cataloguing, metadata, and resource description of physical and electronic bibliographic resources, as well as other formats and media types.
The purpose of this Community is to learn from one another, identify areas for collaboration, promote and encourage the advancement of cataloguing and metadata standards, share and develop best practices, and to discuss emerging trends in resource description.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Metadata standards for all materials and formats
- Cooperative cataloguing, including NACO and SACO
- Emerging ontologies/vocabularies
- Linked data
- Impact of Artificial Intelligence on resource description
- Reparative and inclusive cataloguing initiatives
- Ethical considerations in cataloguing and metadata work
- Cataloguing of consortially licensed resources
