Call for Nominations – Collaborative Futures Groups
The Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL) is pleased to call for member nominations for three Collaborative Futures groups.
Collaborative Futures is a key initiative of OCUL, led by a vision that sees Ontario university students, faculty and researchers accessing a large and diverse province-wide library collection, seamlessly moving between print and digital resources.
Collaborative Futures is overseen by its steering committee with several subcommittees and working groups supporting the development, management and operations of the initiative.
Nominations are being accepted for:
Collaborative Futures Decolonizing Descriptions Implementation Working Group
- Seeking 2-3 members, each for a 1-year term
- This working group sets the framework for the implementation of decolonized vocabulary within the Collaborative Futures Network Zone

Collaborative Futures Network Zone Metadata Maintenance Working Group
- Seeking 2-3 members, each for a 1-year term
- This working group maintains and improves the quality of the MARC data in the Network Zone

Collaborative Futures Strategic Projects Subcommittee
- Seeking 1-2 members, each for a 2-year term
- This subcommittee was previously the Collaborative Futures Shared Policy Subcommittee and recently adopted a new mandate as the Strategic Projects Subcommittee to identify, investigate and initiate projects in support of the Collaborative Futures vision

Submitting a nomination
Individuals may self-nominate or be nominated by someone else from their OCUL member library. Nominations are submitted through an online form.
The deadline for nominations is October 1, 2024 at 5 p.m. Eastern Time.
Nominees should bring relevant expertise and knowledge to the subcommittee or working group, as well as a commitment to:
- Collaboration – Models an open, collaborative approach to teamwork and discussions, and values different ways of knowing
- Communication – Expresses ideas and information in a collegial, constructive manner
- Innovation – Demonstrates creativity and sees links and impacts between related processes to realize a holistic outcome
