OCUL is delighted to announce that the Omni academic search tool is in the process of going live at 14 university libraries in Ontario.

Omni is OCUL’s new consortial instance of Ex Libris’s Alma library software system and PrimoVE discovery system, an outcome of the Collaborative Future initiative. By sharing expertise at university libraries across Ontario, Omni partners will provide users with efficient access to information in every field of study, and ensure the ongoing sustainability of a comprehensive collection of shared resources.

The Omni participating institutions are:

  • Brock University
  • Carleton University
  • University of Guelph
  • Lakehead University
  • Nipissing University
  • Ontario Tech University
  • University of Ottawa
  • Queen’s University
  • Trent University
  • University of Waterloo
  • Western University
  • Wilfrid Laurier University
  • University of Windsor
  • York University

Omni is currently live at Brock University, Queen’s University, and Lakehead University, and will be going live at all of these institutions over the coming days. Further services will follow in 2020, including the fulfillment network that will connect the libraries’ collections.

The implementation of Omni was made possible by the hard work and dedication of librarians and staff at all of the partner libraries. OCUL would like to extend a special thanks to implementation leads, committee and working group members, and the Expert Advisory Network.

Update 2019/12/18: As of December 18th, all Omni partners are live except for Carleton University, the University of Ottawa, and the University of Windsor, who will go live in January.
Update 2020/01/08: As of January 8th, all Omni partners are now live!
