Ask a Librarian, OCUL's virtual reference service reopens today after a month-long summer hiatus. This year, our first day of service falls on a special occasion: Ask a Librarian’s fifth birthday!

On September 12, 2011, Ask a Librarian launched at the University of Guelph, the University of Guelph-Humber, Lakehead University, Ryerson University, the University of Toronto (St. George, Mississauga, and Scarborough campuses), the University of Windsor, and York University. Over the past five years, the service has expanded across Ontario, and is now offered at fourteen university libraries.

Since Ask a Librarian’s launch, we have answered over 100,000 chat questions, and we are now reaching more users than ever before due to the introduction of Clavardez avec nos bibliothécaires, the francophone version of Ask a Librarian, in 2014. Clavardez continues to be an area of growth for chat, and this fall, we are pleased to welcome a new bilingual partner, Saint Paul University, to the service.

As we celebrate this important milestone, we'd like to thank all of our site coordinators, operators, and mentees for their hard work and dedication to Ask a Librarian. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Clavardez avec nos bibliothécaires, le service de référence virtuelle du CBUO, rouvre aujourd’hui après une pause estivale d’un mois. Cette année, notre premier jour de service tombe sur une occasion spéciale : le cinquième anniversaire de Ask a Librarian !
 
Le 12 septembre 2011, Ask a Librarian a lancé à sept écoles : University of Guelph, University of Guelph-Humber, Lakehead University, Ryerson University, University of Toronto, University of Windsor, et l’Université York. Au cours des cinq dernières années, le service est étendu à travers de l’Ontario, et Ask a Librarian est actuellement offert à quatorze bibliothèques universitaires.
 
Depuis le lancement de Ask a Librarian, nous avons répondu à plus de 100.000 questions, et nous nous adressons à encore plus d’utilisateurs avec l’introduction de Clavardez avec nos bibliothécaires, la version francophone de Ask a Librarian, en 2014. Le clavardage en français constitue un domaine de croissance, et cet automne, nous sommes heureux d’accueillir un nouveau partenaire bilingue, l’Université Saint Paul, à Clavardez avec nos bibliothécaires.
 
Au moment de célébrer cet événement majeur, nous aimerions remercier tous nos coordonnateurs de site, nos opérateurs, et nos mentorés pour leur travail et leur dévouement à Ask a Librarian. Nous n’aurions pas pu le faire sans vous !
