OCUL and Scholars Portal are pleased to be working with Artefactual Systems, the developers of the open source digital preservation software Archivematica, to develop integration between Dataverse and Archivematica.

Archivematica (https://www.archivematica.org) provides an integrated suite of free and open source tools that allow users to process digital objects from ingest to archival storage and access, in compliance with the ISO-OAIS functional model and other digital preservation standards and best practices.

Dataverse (http://dataverse.org) is a software application that enables institutions to host research data repositories, supporting the sharing of research data with a persistent data citation, and data publishing and management workflows with versioning and metadata standards.

The module will enable datasets targeted for long-term preservation to be pulled from Dataverse and ingested into Archivematica for preservation processing, including the creation of Archival Information Packages (AIPs).

The Dataverse-Archivematica integration will be developed by Artefactual Systems, and will be openly released as part of the Archivematica codebase. The integration is expected to be completed in 2016.
