Call for Proposals: 2026 OCUL New Initiatives Fund

Published on 2025-08-05

The Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL) is accepting proposals for the 2026 New Initiatives Fund (NIF).

The NIF provides financial support for one-time, high-impact projects or multi-year strategic initiatives that align with OCUL’s 2025-2029 priorities and enhance the teaching, learning, and research environment for the province’s university libraries.

  • Projects and initiatives can be for 1-3 years
  • Proposals can be for up to $100,000 per annum
  • Proposed projects or initiatives must start in the 2026-2027 fiscal year (May 1, 2026-April 30, 2027)
  • Proposal deadline is September 15, 2025

Eligible applicants include OCUL Standing Committees, Communities and other entities within the OCUL governance structure. Proposals from external groups are welcome but must demonstrate a clear connection to OCUL priorities and be in partnership with OCUL as a whole or with a group that is part of the consortium’s governance structure

Proposals are evaluated based on their potential benefits and outcomes, the anticipated budget, and strategic alignment with OCUL priorities.

Visit the NIF webpage for eligibility details and proposal requirements, or contact ocul@ocul.on.ca with questions about the New Initiatives Fund.
