The Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL) is pleased to announce the New Initiatives Fund (NIF) call for proposals for 2025. This fund provides financial support for innovative projects that align with OCUL’s strategic priorities and enhance the teaching, learning, and research environment for the province’s university libraries.
Projects can be for 1-3 years and are expected to start in May 2025. Up to $100,000 is available annually per successful proposal.
Eligible applicants include OCUL Committees, Communities, Working Groups, and other entities within the OCUL governance structure. Proposals from external groups must demonstrate a clear connection to OCUL priorities and be in partnership with OCUL as a whole or with an entity that is part of the consortium’s governance structure. All proposals must have endorsement of the chair/moderator of an OCUL Committee, Community or governance group.
Funding is considered for projects that:
- Advance OCUL’s strategic priorities
- Have a measurable impact for all member libraries
- Demonstrate innovation and creativity
- Foster collaboration
Proposals are evaluated based on the project’s potential benefits and outcomes, the proposed budget, and strategic alignment with OCUL priorities.
The deadline for 2025 NIF proposals is Sunday, September 15, 2024.
