The Ontario Council of University Libraries congratulates the Tri-Agency on the recently announced Tri-Agency Open Access Policy on Publications.

The Policy requires that within 12 months of publication all peer-reviewed journal articles funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), or the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) be made freely available online. OCUL commends the Tri-Agency for joining similar agencies across the world in adopting Open Access policies, which will mobilize the results of public funded research for the betterment of our global society.  OCUL members work closely with individual scholars, institutional research offices and others to support and enable researchers to make their research freely available to readers around the world through Open Access.  They are well-positioned to assist their faculty, researchers and students to meet the Policy.
