Job Opportunity: Information Resources and Collections Specialist

The Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL) is seeking creative, forward-thinking, collaborative applicants for a three-year contract position as Information Resources & Collections Specialist, with the possibility of extension. 

OCUL is a consortium of twenty-one academic libraries from across Ontario collaborating to provide high quality services equitably to students and faculty across the province. For over 50 years OCUL has worked to extend the capacity of our members, resulting in premier access to cutting-edge research and scholarly information services for over half a million university students, faculty and staff across the province. 

Reporting to the Executive Director and guided by OCUL’s mission and priority outcomes for collaboration, the Information Resources & Collections Specialist works closely with librarians and staff across the consortia applying best practices for strategic procurement and purchasing to the selection, negotiation, licensing, renewal, troubleshooting and de-acquisition of information resources. This position is responsible for working directly with librarians and staff across the consortia and with information resource publishers and solution providers to manage end-to-end acquisitions workflows, tracking and planning the renewal of existing resources and supporting the acquisition of new resources in a rapidly changing global information resources landscape. 

Ideal candidates for the position will demonstrate significant experience successfully negotiating the acquisition and licensing of scholarly resources, with a minimum 2 of years’ experience acquiring, licensing and managing information resource lifecycle activities. Required educational qualifications include a Library Technician diploma or college diploma in purchasing and supply management. A University degree is an asset.

The hiring salary range for this position is $56,086 - $62,395. OCUL maintains office space in Robarts Library at the University of Toronto, but our staff are currently working from home. Plans for a return to the workplace have not been finalized, and there is a possibility of remote work from within Ontario for this position.
