Today we celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities. This year’s theme is removing barriers to create an inclusive and accessible society for all. OCUL and Scholars Portal are proud to be contributing to this endeavor through the Accessible Texts project.

OCUL is partnering with the Government of Ontario’s EnAbling Change Program and the University of Toronto Libraries to find ways to open Ontario’s university libraries rich resources to all members of the university community.  The Accessible Texts project, led through Scholars Portal, aims to enhance the ability of university libraries throughout Ontario to provide barrier-free access to textual resources for students and faculty with various reading and print disabilities. OCUL is excited to be collaborating on this project in support of its goal to help provide rich learning environments to ensure the engagement and success of Ontario’s diverse and growing student population.

Stay tuned for further announcements about this exciting project.
