The Award

The Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL) has established an award to recognize the outstanding contribution of an individual or team of individuals within the OCUL consortium. Recipients of the award, which may be given annually, will be notable contributors to the OCUL vision and strategic priorities.

Nominations & Submission Guidelines

Criteria:

Outstanding contributions are those that have advanced OCUL’s vision and/or one or more strategic priorities either across OCUL libraries generally, or within a particular sector of OCUL libraries.

Types of accomplishments that may be considered include, but are not limited to :

  • Innovation and achievement that helped advance an OCUL strategy
  • Demonstrated leadership and success in advancing an OCUL project
  • Remarkable achievements that embody the value OCUL places on networking, collaboration and community

Eligibility:

Individuals currently employed by OCUL member institutions either in the Library or in another department which partners with the library. Length of service is not a deciding factor.

(Note: OCUL Directors, OCUL staff and Scholars Portal staff are not eligible).

Nominations:

An annual call for nominations will be circulated to the OCUL community via OCUL listservs and the OCUL website.

Nominations can be made by staff of any OCUL member library. Individuals may nominate themselves or others.

Nominations must include:

  • Name of individual or names of members of a team being nominated, and home institution(s)
  • Description of the contribution and how it contributes to the OCUL vision 
  • Other supporting/relevant documentation
  • Name of nominator and contact information
  • One letter of support, who will be the ‘seconder’

All nominations and submissions should be marked "Confidential" and sent by mail or courier to the OCUL office:

A decision will be made by a jury consisting of two OCUL Directors and one OCUL Executive Committee member. All nominations will remain confidential to the OCUL Directors and staff.
